Ford is recalling certain model year 2011 Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers that were manufacture from July 1, 2010 through October 8, 2010. The recall, which consists of 71 units, says that vehicles were shipped with incorrectly configured electronic module settings that disable the locking function of the liftgate.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard No. 206 “Door Locks and Door Retention Components.”

“The liftgate lock may be disabled and the driver may not be able to lock the liftgate using interior lock switches or remote key fob button,” the NHTSA said.

To fix the problem Ford will have the affected control models free of charge. Owners can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Suzuki is recalling 69,587 units of the SX4 due to problems with the side view mirrors. The recall includes 67,377 SX4 hatchback and sedan models from the 2008-2009 model years and 2,209 vehicles from the 2010 model year, plus one SX4 hatchback from the 2007 model year.

The NHTSA says that three screws used to attach each side view mirror to the vehicle can become loose from road vibrations, eventually causing the mirror to fall off the vehicle.

“Replacement screws are on their way to Suzuki dealers, and customer vehicles will be refitted as quickly as the parts arrive and customers make appointments with their dealers to have their vehicles serviced,” Suzuki said in an statement.

Suzuki said that dealers will replace the screw with new screws for free (obviously).

RAAMSDONKSVEER - Autoproducent Toyota roept in Japan en Europa bijna 136.000 auto's terug naar de garage vanwege een mogelijk probleem met de stuurbekrachtiging.

In Nederland gaat het om 2488 auto's van het type iQ die zijn gebouwd tussen 2008 en 2010. Dat heeft Toyota donderdag bekendgemaakt.

Bij bepaalde uitvoeringen van het compacte autootje kan de stuurbekrachtiging kortstondig van de leg raken waardoor die even niet optimaal functioneert.

Volgens een woordvoerder van Toyota Nederland kan dit probleem zich alleen voordoen als de auto over geribbelde veiligheidsbelijning heenrijdt.

''Het lampje van de stuurbekrachtiging kan dan gaan branden en het kan zijn dat de stuurbekrachtiging even minder goed werkt.''

Hij merkt verder op dat in Nederland nog geen gevallen van dit euvel gemeld zijn.

Mercedes-Benz announced that it is recalling 2,297 2011 diesel models in the United States due to concerns that fuel could leak because of a faulty engine filter. The recall consists of diesel models including the M-Class GL-Class, E-Class and R-Class.

Mercedes-Benz told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the O-ring on the engine fuel filter may not have been properly lubricated and that the diesel fuel may be deposited on the highway and create the risk of a potential crash.

Complaints of the issue started back in July and Mercedes-Benz has already modified the part and lubrication process. The Daimler AG owned brand will start notifying owners later this month and will replace all fuel filters on recalled models.
